Meditate Upon Good Thoughts

"The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world & the world at large." -- Confucius

I have been a strong believer that if you think positively, the world around you will seem so much brighter. Everything in the world is seem differently by different eyes. What I see in one thing, may not be the same thing you see in that exact same thing. The thing is not different. Our points of view are different.

There is so much negativity out there. All you have to do is turn on the television and all you get are things that can depress you. The news is mostly comprised of accidents, murders and people stealing money from each other. If you sit down to watch a movie, most of them have anger, hatred and all kinds of ill will towards each other. Sure most of them end happily, but getting to that happy ending just fills your mind with all kinds of negativity. This is not good for you.

Think about avoiding those things that bring negativity to your mind. Avoid the news. all you need are the headlines to keep yourself abreast with what is going on in the world. Don't watch these headlines in the morning. Wait till you have already started your day in a good way before you introduce those negative thoughts. If you can avoid them altogether, then do that. Find things that make you happy. Find things you can do that bring you some sort of peace and enjoyment. Do these things briefly everyday.

If you can bring good and happy things into your life, you will be amazed at the quality of your life. You will be a happier person. You will be able to handle the things that are not so good. You will also find you are healthier. You will not be sick quite as often. So think positively and have some fun.

Only Today Exists

Today is the only time we can possibly live. ~Dale Carnegie

Think about it. Yesterday has already past. There is nothing you can do to change it. All you can do is learn from it. Tomorrow has not happened yet. When tomorrow gets here, it is no longer tomorrow, it is today. You can not live for tomorrow because tomorrow never comes. You can prepare for tomorrow by living in the present.

Are you living or just getting by. Are you following a routine or are you living life like to day is the only day you get. Think about time as something we made up. We are only living in our little space sharing it with everyone else's little spaces.

We creates yesterday. We created tomorrow. Think about the animals. I look at my dog. She is only thinking about the right now. When she is hungry, she looks at me and asks me to fill her food dish. Shen she want to be walked she will lay her head on my lap and give me that little "lets take a walk whine."

I think about the spiders that are living on the rain gutters outside the house. They are thinking I need to build a web. Now I need to wait patiently. When something sticks to the web, then I can have lunch. They are not worried about yesterday or tomorrow. Why should we be.

Use what you can do today to enhance what you expect when tomorrow becomes today. It is OK to plan for the future, but there is no point in worrying about tomorrow till it gets here. All that does is make you sick. Think about today and what you can do today.

Make the Days Count

"Don't count the days, make the days count." ~ Muhammad Ali

You only get so many days in your life. No one knows how many are left for them. They can only live their life to the fullest as long as possible. At least that is what they should be trying to do.

Did you make today count? Before you lay down to sleep for the night or at least before you let yourself drift off to sleep, think about your day. Did you live it the best you could? Are there things you would have changed about it? If there are things you would change, take a moment to live it like you would have liked it to go.

Plan out your days. Sit down for a few minutes before you start each and everyday and write down all the things you would like to get done that day. Think about some of the goals you are hoping to complete in the near future. Think about steps you could take today to make those goals come to pass. Add those tasks to your list.

I find by making that list, you will remember more of the things you need to get done even if you don't have the list in front of you. If you know you are forgetting something you were supposed to do, all you have to do is pull out that list and remind yourself. It is also a nice feeling when you can mark off the things you have completed.

Whatever you do, make the day count.

Your the Pilot of Your Time

"The bad news is time flies. The good news is you're the pilot." --Michael Altshuler

It occurred to me this week that the year 2000 does not seem that long ago. It has been more the twelve years since that crazy New Years Day party. I ponder about how fast time is moving as I get older. I wonder if my body mass makes my place in timespace a bit faster; a bit heavier. I wonder if children perceive time slower because they are younger or because they are just smaller. Do we naturally speed up as we get older because we become more dense? I don't know. It is an interesting concept.

Are you in control of your time? Think about it. Do you know where all your time goes? If you don't, maybe you should sit down and create a time budget. You should know what is happening to all of your time. Are you spending it all at work or in bed or on the couch in front of a television or video game system? Is that where you truly want to spend that amount of time? If it is not, then you have the power to make changes to the management of your time.

I like anything that Dave Ramsey does. If you don't know who he is, run over to his website and download his free podcast. He teaches you how to be smart with your money. I like to take his philosophy with money and focus it on my time. You should budget your time before you spend any of it. Know what you have to do and plan out every minute that way you are not sitting idle trying to figure out what you should be doing. If you can do this, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.
